With the sudden transfer of superstar post Marvin Bagley this week, the recruiting game will not stop for star junior guard Alex Barcello. Barcello is one of the hottest guard prospects in the West's 2017 class, and, now with the recent transfer of Bagley, Barcello is primed and ready to post some ridiculous numbers this high school season, while also being recruited heavily by some of the top college programs in the country.
With a large number of college programs already in hot pursuit of Barcello, this week he received another offer from a program in the SEC Conference - the University of Auburn and head coach Bruce Pearl.
Barcello also currently has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, California, Colorado, Creighton, DePaul, Grand Canyon, Marquette, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Providence, St. Mary's (CA), Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington State.
Last high school season, Barcello posted some very impressive numbers on the season. This season, without Bagley, Barcello will look to lead the Aztecs to a fifth consecutive Division-I state title.
Barcello is primed to do after a strong spring and summer where he played very well in this year's NBA Player's Camp in Virginia, participated in the Adidas Uprising All-American Camp in New York, and was the top individual leading scorer in the Adidas Gauntlet basketball league/tournament. In each top-rated national event this off-season, Barcello was one of the top performers in the camp - holding his own against the nation's elite talent.
This season, the most important season of his high school career, will involve a lot of changes and challenges for Barcello, but I only look for his recruitment to continue to soar, as his overall production and individual importance to his team reaches new heights.
