One of the top girl's prospects in the state's 2016 class is Desert Vista High School's 5-foot-5 senior guard Tatum Brimley. Brimley is one of the state's top guards - regardless of class and has had a very successful career for Desert Vista.
Recently, Brimly signed a national letter of intent with an NAIA program located in San Antonio, Texas - signing with Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU).
Brimley is currently averaging 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals per/game this season, and has led Desert Vista to a 5-3 overall record thus far this season in the state's Division-I Class.
Brimley has had an excellent career - earning academic excellence awards as a student athlete every year at Desert Vista. She was also named Defensive Player of the Year her sophomore year. In addition, she helped lead the Thunder to a Division-I State Championship during the 2013-2014 season.
As a junior, Brimley received honorable mention, and over the summer, she was named to the All-Tournament Team in the United States Junior Nike Nationals (USJN).
Brimley plans to major in biology and minor in psychology at OLLU.
Congratulations to Tatum and her family on this amazing accomplishment for herself from our staff here at Arizona Preps.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Brimley is a pure, pass-first point guard with a very good feel for the game. She knows how to make girls around her better and also operate a team - raising her team's performance from the point guard position. She hits teammates in stride with strong passes on the run. Besides her amazing vision, she can go by her defender and finish with either hand. She also knows how to perform a shot fake, and blow by her defenders with ease. She will have to improve her range on her jumper to increase her overall game over time, but she has a very good mid-range game. A great floor general, Brimley is at her best as a lock-down defender, and is among the best defenders from the guard position in the state. This is her best asset as a player. Her ability to stop opposing guards makes her a valuable asset on the floor at all times. An excellent guard prospect for a smaller college program.
