Jay Green is a 6-foot-6 prep guard/forward for Hillcrest Prep Academy's post-graduate team. Green played last season as a senior for Mountain Ridge High School.
He is a very long and athletic performer with very good versatility as a player. He has the ability to get to the basket and finish above defenders, almost at will. He has a great feel for the game and can really make shots. He is a lock down defender and plays multiple positions, but gives smaller guards problems with his length and athleticism.
Jay has flourished in the classroom - finishing up his senior year with a 3.9 CUM GPA and posting an 1800 on the SAT. He is an NCAA automatic qualifier.
He is flourishing at Hillcrest Prep already this season - leading the Bruins' Post Grad team early on this season to an Elite 1 Pre-Season Tournament Championship (Finishing 3-0 in the event). In the championship game, Jay led all scorers with 37 points vs Aspire Academy and helped Hillcrest Prep secure the big victory over Aspire.
Through (6) Pre-Season exhibition games thus far, Green is averaging over 24.7 PPG and 6.2 assists per game. He is also shooting at a 44% clip from the field early on this season.
He has been receiving a lot of interest lately from college programs in the Pac-12 and the Mountain West Conferences. He currently holds several division-I offers from schools such as IPFW, UT-Martin and Prairie View A&M.
Green will be taking an official visit to mid-major powerhouse IPFW on October 27th.
Green has high-major division-I athletic ability including size, strength and athleticism. It will be interesting to see where he ends up deciding to go after his stint at Hillcrest Prep.
