Mesa Junior College 6-foot-7, 220-pound sophomore forward Noe Anabir saw his minutes diminish throughout this junior college season, after having a strong start, but in the end, it all worked out for Anabir. This week Anabir signed a national letter of intent with a program in the Horizon League.
Anabir signed this week with Youngstown State University and new head coach Jerrod Calhoun. Calhoun recently was hired as the head coach at the school and was in search of talent for his program. He landed Anabir.
A native of Geneva, Switzerland, Anabir averaged 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds for head coach Sam Ballard, while shooting an impressive 58% from the field this junior college season.
Anabir is a very good signing at this point in the recruiting year, and has the potential to be a very good pick-up for Youngstown State.
Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report: Anabir is an athletic 4-man prospect with a nice, athletic frame which allows him to be very active around the rim - finishing strong and also competing for rebounds outside of his area. He runs the floor like a guard prospect and finishes well in transition. Can score inside and outside, although he saw most of his baskets around the paint at MCC. He will be able to make shots out to three-point distance at the next level. Has a good shooting stroke with range. Most effective from mid-range. A very good finisher. He has good low-post footwork and plays bigger than his size suggests. An active rebounder and a good shotblocker for his size. Good passer out of the low post. A good low-post defender. A very good, sound overall juco prospect.
