2022 Player Intro: Anthony Flores

Determination is the word that sums up Casa Grande Union High School’s 6-foot-2 rising junior combo-guard Anthony Flores. Flores has been using this time (COVID-19 Lockdown) to sharpen his basketball skills with legendary basketball trainer Chris Hurst. Flores is determined to improve his skills and help his team make the playoffs this upcoming season. Besides sharpening his basketball skills, Flores has been working hard in the weight room by adding 12 pounds of muscle. He is a dual-sport athlete competing on the gridiron as a wide receiver, and as a combo-guard on the hardwood.

As a sophomore on the varsity team, Flores averaged 9.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 3 steals per/game. His most intriguing stat is his 3.97 CUM GPA, as he is a high achiever in the classroom.  Flores is also one of the top returning players for Casa Grande Union and new Head Coach Chris Rizzo, who has some pieces to work with in building his program.

We were able to observe Flores at recent The Show’s 520 Exclusive Showcase in late June in Tucson. Flores has great ball-handling skills with the ability to knock down the 3-ball. What intrigues me the most about him is his competitive spirit. He plays hard and is willing to step up to help his team. He also has great vision and anticipation on the defensive end. Flores is a threat on offense with his scoring ability. He has nice driving and finishing ability, as well as a jump-shot.

Flores is one of the top prospects in Central Arizona, and we look forward to monitoring his progress this up-coming season.
