Post Horizon Holiday Hoops Invitational Day 2 Top Performers
on: December 24, 2018, 01:48

This weekend, Horizon High School hosted their annual Holiday Hoops Invitational. This tournament contained a lot of top teams from the valley, such as Scottsdale Christian Academy, St Mary’s & Mountain Ridge, but also bringing in a top team from the Chicago area in New Trier.

With tons of talent participating, these were some of the individuals who stood out . . .

Cameron Cotton, 6’3 2020 SG Mountain View

Cameron is a player who excels in getting to the lane and earning himself trips to the charity strike. He was able to live in the lane to keep his Mountain View Squad close against the tournament host Horizon. He has an array of nifty moves, once in the lane to finish over bigger opponents. He was able to have a team high with 23 points.

Julian Molina, 5’10 2019 SG Mountain View

Julian showed off his shooting ability all night. He has the ability to knockdown highly difficult long-range bombs. He is equipped with an extremely quick jump shot that allows him to make shots others are just not capable of. He used these abilities to score 23 points in the loss.

Logan McCullough, 6’3 2019 SG Horizon

Logan was able to do a bit of everything against Mountain view. He showed the ability to knock down long range shots, while steadily attacking the rim. The most impressive thing about his game is the way he attacks the rim for rebounds. He led his Horizon team with 27 points and 9 rebounds.

Ethan Spry, 6’8 2019 PF Scottsdale Christian

With Ethan it is all about his motor. The kid just never runs out of gas. He seems to have a passion for banging in the post. The more physical the defender, the easier Spry seems to score or create for others. Ethan has a knack for eating up offensive rebounds for easy put backs.

Reed Myers, 6’1 2019 PG Scottsdale Christian (Rice Commit)

Reed is one of the more cerebral players in the valley. He seems to run SCA’s offenses similar to how a conductor runs an orchestra. He’s constantly barking on offensive and defensive to get players to proper spots, always creating for others, and just seems to always make the right decision.

Samuel Silverstein, 6’5 G 2019 New Trier

Samuel is a smooth guard with great size and length. He showed the ability to knock down long range threes at a good percentage, while making plays off the dribble finishing with a number of different creative moves to avoid contact in transition. Because of his size and skill Samuel was a constant matchup nightmare.

Spencer Boehm, 6’8 2019 New Trier

Spencer leaves it all out on the court. He gives every play maximum effort from setting screens to scoring in the post. He showed the ability to stretch the floor knocking down a number of jump shots when given the opportunity. The most impressive thing about his game was his ability to create for others in the post. He dropped a number of dimes to cutters while being double teamed in the post.

Kieren Brown, 6’3 2021 St. Mary’s

For such a young prospect the first thing you notice about Kieren is just how well built he is. He uses that size to punish opposing defenses by constantly putting pressure on the paint. He gets to the free throw line at will which helped lead his team back from a first half deficit. On the defensive end, because of his size, he has the ability to guard positions 1 - 3 effectively

Trask Morgan, 6’4 2019 Mountain Ridge

Trask is a high motor player who makes a point to do all of the small things correctly. He is an amazing cutter who gets buckets off of effort plays. He excels in getting downhill and attacking the rim.
