Jaiyer Jinwright To Post Grad @ South Kent

Former Arizona high school guard prospect, 6-foot-2 prep point guard Jaiyer Jinwright, has decided to play a post-graduate year at the historic South Kent Prep in Connecticut.  A native of New Jersey, Jinwright was regarded as one of the top overall prospects in Arizona's 2017 class, before he decided to transfer schools - moving back to West Orange, New Jersey.

In New Jersey, Jinwright played his sophomore and junior seasons  at Newark East Side High School (NJ).  Jinwright played his senior season at St. James Prep School in Maryland - one of the top prep programs in the country, academically and athletically.

Jinwright now has decided to complete a post-graduate year at South Kent Prep, one of the most accomplished prep programs in America.  South Kent has produced such players as Isaiah Thomas (Boston Celtics) and hundreds more.  Thomas attended the school for two seasons to improve his academic performance and focus on basketball.

Jinwright is coming off a good showing this spring and summer for himself.  He is a very slick guard with the ball in his hands - possessing excellent quickness and a handle that allows him to get anywhere he wants to on the floor.  He is an excellent finisher with very good body control and a knack for getting into the lane and finishing plays.  He is a floor general point guard with an excellent feel for the game and makes players around him better.

A post-graduate year will benefit Jinwright a great deal, as he will have another year to mature physically for the division-I level.  The additional year will be tremendous in his development as a player, and he will face another year of excellent competition for himself.

Currently, Jinwright advised me that he is receiving college interest from Bucknell, Wichita State, Boston University and New Mexico State.  He will look to land his first scholarship offer this season, and to make a college decision.

Jinwright is also an amazing student and carries close to a 4.0 CUM GPA.  He is already a full academic qualifier as well.

Arizona Hoop Review Scouting Report:  Jinwright is a very slick and skilled guard prospect that is a floor general that makes players around him better.  Has an excellent handle of the basketball which allows him to get anywhere on the floor, and also get into the lane and make plays.  He has a nice knack for scoring the basketball off the dribble, and is a very good finisher in the lane over bigger defenders.  A good scorer.  Has a nice shooting stroke, and is at his best with the basketball in his hands where he is able to make plays for himself, while creating for his teammates.  An excellent passer that sees the floor and pushes the basketball.  A very good defender with excellent quickness and quick hands and feet.  Plays passing lanes.  A true point guard prospect with good leadership qualities.
