Former St. Mary's High School basketball star guard Marcus Shaver is back in the state of Arizona. Shaver moved away from the state of Arizona after his sophomore season for the Knights - leaving the state for another school. After a stint in the state of Texas where he played at a high-profile prep program, Shaver has decided to return Arizona, and for one of the state's elite programs.
Recently, it was announced that Shaver had decided to return to the state of Arizona, but rather than come back to Saint Mary's High School, instead Shaver chose to return to Shadow Mountain HS - one of the state's most dominant programs. Shadow Mountain has won the division-II state title two-times in the last three years, and returns this season with the state's best crop of young talent.
The addition of Shaver will be a very interesting one as he will be asked to share time in the backcourt with such top-rated guards as superb sophomores Jaelen House and Javon Blackshear. House was dominant down the stretch for the Matadors last season in their state title run, and Shaver is known for his scoring outbursts and high volume shooting. This team will be ridiculously high-powered next fall, especially if they can keep everyone happy somehow.
I was advised that Mike Bibby will return next high school season as the head coach - a very interesting fact and another major factor for how good the school will be once again.
Look for this program to be my favorite to win second consecutive state championship next high school season.
