Shon Robinson is a Problem!

by Justin Vargas | Posted on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018

He stands right around 6-foot-10! He is lights out from behind the 3-point line! He finishes above the rim with authority! He can put the ball on the deck! He gets up and down the court about as good as any wing! It is really starting to get hard to find holes in Jamal Murray Elite's Stretch 4-man Shon Robinson's game.

No, he is not a lock-down defender... YET! No, he has not mastered finishing through hard contact.. YET! But the leaps he has made since I first saw him play over the holiday break under Head Coach Jerome Joseph at Higley High is nothing short of impressive. He has gained some weight, looks to have grown about an inch, has improved his handle and gotten a little tougher each time I have seen him.

Shon Robinson's do not come around very often in the state of Arizona. He moved into the East Valley from Chicago back in August and has made Arizona basketball gyms his little playground ever since.

Playing under Head Coach Phil Lowe, who also serves as his trainer/mentor, Robinson was arguably the best player in the gym at the Southwest Showcase Main Event, as his JME team won the 16U Gold Division, going undefeated over that weekend. He will lace up his sneakers again this weekend in LA, as he plays his first game against the And1 Academy at 7:10pm on Friday night. There is little doubt he will be among the top prospects in the gym.

Shon currently holds offers from Arizona State, Grand Canyon, New Mexico, New Mexico State, UTEP, DePaul, Florida State and Illinois. He has recently gotten some other high-major interest out of the likes of Colorado, Colorado State, Michigan, UNLV, Vanderbilt, Oregon and Oklahoma. His recruitment has heated up like a Phoenix sidewalk in June. This spring and summer he is already set to make stops in Atlanta, New York, Wichita, and Vegas with his Adidas-sponsored AAU team.

Before you see the interest and offers or the size and skillset, understand that Shon puts in the work in the gym to get there like its a full-time job with paid overtime and his fridge is empty. He works on his game and strength constantly and wants to be great. He is a gamer that loves the big stage and wants to showcase his hard work and talents in front of the right people and as many as possible. In some sense, he is a performer.

He is already signed up to play in the Pangos All-American Camp this summer, as well as the Southwest All-American Camp. Count on it being a BIG spring and summer for Robinson.
