One of the most consistent high-level performers this year, as we near the full-swing for the 2019-2020 basketball season, has been AZ Compass Prep 6-foot-3, 185-pound senior guard Sincere Parker. While the AZ Compass team has been one of the hottest prep teams in America early on this season, the consistent strong play of Sincere Parker has been a nice bright spot for the group.
A native of Rockford, Illinois, Parker was a top-rated prospect while playing for East High School (IL), and so it was a major surprise when he decided to relocate to Arizona and join a loaded group of prospects at AZ Compass. While this year's gifted team of prospects at AZ Compass is absolutely loaded with talent, Parker has found his niche on the team, and has given the team valuable minutes at both guard positions on the floor, while providing excellent scoring, leadership and defense from either guard spot. Parker's ability to play the game has really helped the AZ Compass team to roll at a high level, as Parker provides excellent support in the backcourt to top-rated junior point guard Frankie Collins.
Currently, Parker holds offers from Grand Canyon, New Mexico, Long Beach State, Illinois-Chicago and Green Bay. While he is a senior performer, I look for him to gain much more recruiting interest this high school season, especially as a result of the level he is playing on such a high level team that should continue to make a lot of national noise this season.
Parker is an excellent combo-guard prospect that has a strong ability to play both guard positions on the floor. He is at his best scoring the basketball, since his offensive repetoire is so complete. He is able to make shots from anywhere on the floor, and with unlimited range on his shot and a quick release. He also possesses a nice mid-range game, which allows him to make plays for himself and others off the dribble. His command of the floor with the basketball in his hands alows him to make plays almost at will, as he is very difficult to defend and is a complete offensive weapon. He sets up himself nicely off dribble drives to the basket and is a strong finisher at the rim, while also being able to stop on a dime and make shots with regularity.
Parker has a strong handle of the basketball with very good court vision, and a willingness to make plays for others. He sets up defenses nicely, as he is very difficult to defend on the floor, especially as a result of his ability to score almost at will. When playing the point position, which he will be best suited for in college, Parker is fun to play with, as he is a winner, and will do what is needed for his team to win.
Parker is also a very good defender with good lateral quickness of feet, and also has quick hands that lead to many deflections and fast breaks for his team, which has really benefited the ultra-athletic Compass team this season, as they have as many dunks as a team this season as any prep program in America.
The AZ Compass Prep program is one of the hottest prep teams in the country, and is absoluted loaded with division-I talent this high school season, but Sincere Parker has proven to be one of the program's top recruiting targets headed into the spring, as this young man's play has been as consistent as any top performer in the state, and has become one of my favorite overall prospects available in the state's 2020 Class.
I will continue to follow the recruitment of Parker closely this high school season, and bring you any recruiting updates as they continue to develop.
