Tyreke Chambers receives offer from Weber State

It wasn’t long ago that Desert Vista’s 6-foot-3 star junior guard Tyrek Chambers was on his way to Phoenix, Arizona.  The New York native made the jump West after being shot in a crossfire.

Tonight, Chambers has just received a full-ride scholarship offer from Weber State after being recruited by former Desert Vista star point guard, Garrett Lever, who is now apart of the Weber State coaching staff.

Chambers has shown flashes of elite play in his short tenure with head coach Gino Crump - averaging almost 17 points per game on a very talented team that has a little bundle of Division-I talent.  For a short period it looked as if Chambers had lost some of his confidence and ran into a mid-season funk.  However, Chambers has regained his footing as of late, and has responded in a big way for the Thunder.

On Tuesday, they had their much-anticipated rematch with Mountain Pointe.  Chambers would help lead Desert Vista to a big win against the top team in the 6A Division.

At 19-4, the Thunder are prepping themselves for a state playoff run that they hope will land them a championship banner.  They will host Gilbert on Friday night at home.

Beyond this season, Chambers will be traveling on the AAU Circuit, but is still unsure as to who he will play with this spring.

Congratulations to Tyrek on his offer from Weber State, as I am sure more are to come.
