WCE Arizona All-Star Camp Top Performers – Part II

The West Coast Elite Arizona All Star Camp took place this past weekend, and it included some of the state’s best players from all classes. This event was held by the prominent West Coast Elite Under Armor AAU program which is organized and directed by Ryan Silver, Jason Simon, and Scott Martin.

This event was a great event for some of the top players in the state to showcase their abilities in a game and skills training setting. Here are some of the top performers from the event, seen by new Arizona Preps' staff member Lucas Archuleta, also assistant coach from South Mountain Junior College . . .

Top 2021 Sophomore Prospects

Carter Van Hammond 6’9 Sophomore F/C Perry High

A very long and athletic F/C that is very skilled. Very effective in transition, runs the floor hard and can finish with both hands at a high level. Very good touch at the rim. High level rebounder that plays with a motor. Good shot blocker. Capable mid-range game. Slightly raw offensively still but will improve more as he matures. Great mobility for his size and has good hands. Great footwork in the post with a wide variety of moves/finishes. Needs to get stronger physically but will only improve as he matures. Carter is a very intriguing young prospect. Carter led all scorers in the Top 20 All Star game with 15 pts.

Brett Hardt 6’0 Sophomore PG Rancho Solano Prep

A very skilled and crafty player who shoots the ball at a high level. Capable scorer from 3, mid-range or finishing at the rim. Smooth stroke, unlimited range and shoots the ball at a high level off the catch or off the dribble. Plays with good pace and is a very good playmaker. Crafty finisher at the rim with both hands. Has a good IQ and can make others better. Good passer. Good defender. Quick and shifty with the ball in his hands. Needs to get stronger physically but will improve as he gets older. Very intriguing young prospect. Brett was one of the top scorers in the top 20 All Star game with 10 pts.

Top 2022 Freshman Prospects

Nate Pickens 6’0 Freshman PG Dysart

The only freshman to play in the Top 20 All Star game and had a great showing with 10 points. A very skilled and crafty point guard. Good range and has a solid mid-range game. Uses his quickness to get by defenders and is a crafty finisher with both hands. Very good ball handler. Good IQ and good passer. Plays with good pace and is shifty. Very good in transition and makes good decisions. Very intriguing young prospect who will only improve over time.
