WCE Spring Tip Off-Powerhouse Upperclassmen Player Watch List

Arizona Preps' writer Lucas Archuleta traveled to Los Angles, CA, this past weekend to cover the West Coast Spring Tip-Off event organized by West Coast Elite's Ryan Silver.  Here is a recap of the top upperclassmen performers from the event by the Powerhouse Hoops club program . . .

17U- UAA RISE Standouts

Oso Ighodaro- 6’9, 2020  Desert Vista HS

Oso is a very intriguing prospect who has seen his stock rise a lot in recent weeks. Oso is a long, athletic and skilled prospect that can impact the game in so many ways.  He is able to use his versatility on both ends of the floor, which makes him a match-up nightmare. He can really attack off the bounce, as he has a really good handle and has a great feel for the game.  He’s very dangerous in transition and can finish at the rim at a high level.  He’s a capable shooter that can mix it up and space the floor.  He has a really high motor and can dominate the glass or protect the paint defensively - altering and blocking shots.  Recently Stanford and Rice have offered Oso.  Look for his stock to continue to rise as the AAU season continues to progress.

Evan Nelson- 6’2, 2020  Salpointe Catholic HS

Evan is a very intriguing prospect out of the 2020 Class, who has the potential to see his stock rise tremendously this summer.  Evan is a versatile combo-guard who has a ton of upside.  Evan can score from all three levels and has a really good balance to his game.  Evan can shoot it at a high level, but is very dangerous creating off the bounce and attacking the rim.  He’s a very athletic and quick guard that uses both athleticism and skill when playing.  He has a good feel for the game and really competes hard on both ends of the floor. Look for him to pick up a lot of interest this summer from D-I programs.

Logan Phillips- 6’7, 2020  Valley Christian HS

Logan is a very intriguing prospect that has seen his stock rise as of recently.  Logan is a long, athletic and extremely skilled player or what you would call a "Swiss Army" knife.  He can score from all three levels and is a dead-3 from the perimeter.  Logan also has a very deadly mid-range/float game that is tough to stop, as he can shoot over smaller defenders.  Logan has a really good handle and feel for the game, as he is a high IQ player and very crafty as well. Logan can create for others as well, as he is a great passer.  Recently he picked up an offer from Division-I program University of Incarnate Word in the Southland Conference. Look for Logan’s stock to rise all summer, as he is a prospect who is starting to gain interest.

Deandre Henry- 6’8, 2020  Mountain Pointe HS

Deandre is a very intriguing prospect who has had a very strong couple of weeks in the club season.  Deandre is a big, strong, athletic player who plays with a very high motor.  He’s a tough, gritty player who can really affect the game on both ends of the floor.  He’s a capable shooter from mid-range, but is very effective finishing around the rim, as he has great touch and footwork. Deandre can really dominate the offensive glass, as he plays with a gritty style of play.  Deandre also has a really good feel for the game and can attack off the bounce and create for others using his good handle. Deandre can guard multiple positions defensively.  Look for his stock to rise all summer, as he’s already receiving a lot of interest from D-I programs.

Alem Huseinovic- 6’3, 2020  Chaparral HS

Alem is a very intriguing prospect who is coming off a great high school season, and is off to a strong start this club season.  Alem is a very skilled and high IQ player that matches that with good athleticism and size.  Alem shoots the ball at a very high level, but is also very crafty when it comes to creating off the bounce or finishing at the rim. He can play on or off the ball but really excels off the ball, where he can cut and get to his spots on the floor, where he can get his shot off.  He competes hard on both ends of the floor and never takes plays off.  Look for his stock to really rise as the summer moves along, as he is already off to a really strong start.

Kimani Holt- 6’4, 2020  Rancho Solano HS

Kimani is a very intriguing prospect that should see his stock rise this summer.  He’s a big, strong and athletic guard who can impact the game in multiple ways.  He’s very effective off the bounce, attacking the rim, but is also capable of knocking down perimeter jumpers.  Kimani is very dangerous in transition where he can use his strong frame and ability to finish.  Kimani has a good handle, which allows him to create offense.  Kimani is also a physical guard who isn’t afraid of contact. He competes hard on both ends of the floor and can guard multiple positions with his size and athleticism.

Hunter Ruck- 6’9, 2020  Rancho Solano HS

Hunter is a very intriguing prospect who has been flying under the radar, but could see his stock rise this spring and summer.  Hunter is a big, strong and athletic player who brings physicality to any roster. Hunter is very effective finishing around the rim where he can use his strength and size. Hunter has a college-ready body already, and isn’t afraid to use his strong frame to his advantage.  Hunter has a good motor on the glass and can really control the paint and the glass.  He has a good feel for the game and has a knack for the ball on the offensive glass. Hunter has a really good touch that goes along with his athleticism.  Look for Hunter to have a really good spring and summer.

Brycen Long- 6’2, 2020  Gilbert HS

Brycen is yet another intriguing prospect for the PHH 17U roster. Brycen is coming off a state championship run with Gilbert HS, and is continuing his great play in the AAU season.  Brycen is a crafty, skilled, high IQ guard who can impact the game is so many ways. Brycen shoots the ball at a really high level, and can score from all three levels.  He competes hard on both ends and has a great feel for the game on both ends of the floor.  He is capable off the bounce and can create offense for himself and others as well.  Look for Brycen's recruitment to really pick up this summer.

17U- Black Standouts

Jerry Illiya- 6’6- 2020  Paradise Honors HS

Jerry (pictured) is a very intriguing prospect who has had a big start to the club season.  He’s a long, athletic and gritty player.  Jerry is an explosive athlete who can play with a very high motor. He’s very effective in transition where he finished around the rim at a high level. He’s very good attacking off the bounce, as he plays an aggressive style of basketball. He’s a high level rebounder on both ends of the floor. He has a good touch around the rim as well. Jerry has a college-ready body, and, as he begins to shoot it better, will be a very dangerous player.  Look for Jerry to pick up a lot of interest, as he is already turning heads this spring.

Trey Donaldson- 6’2- 2020  Gilbert Christian HS

Trey is a very intriguing prospect who has also had a very good start to the spring.  Trey is a skilled, crafty and athletic guard who has a lot of upside. Trey is a very good athlete and mixes that with the ability to shoot the ball and make plays off the bounce, for himself or for his teammates.  He has a good feel for the game overall. He’s very effective in transition where he can use his speed and athleticism in the open court. Trey is also a very good defender and can really pressure guys using his speed and athleticism. He’s a high motor player who competes hard on both ends of the floor. Look for Trey to gain a lot of interest soon, as he has had a very strong start to the club season.

Jake Murphy- 6’3- 2020  Arcadia HS

Jake is another intriguing prospect on the 17U Black Powerhouse roster.  Jake is a skilled, crafty and high IQ player.  He really shoots the ball efficiently and at a high level from three and off the bounce. He moves really well without the ball and understands how to get to open spots on the floor where he can get his shot off.  He’s a smart and crafty player that has a good feel for the game.  He competes hard on both ends of the floor. Jake has had a very strong start to the club season, so look for his interest from schools to pick up a lot this summer.
