Coaching Philosophy.
What do you believe in? What are you emphasizing? Who do you emulate? Who are you trying to learn from?
Coach John Wooden has been the staple of the coaching world for many decades. Others like Coach Pitino and Coach Calipari have now been dominating for a number of years due to their success. Really it's the coaches who are achieving with lesser talent that I believe you should be looking at.
You need to evolve as you go along your journey. Perhaps you are like me and early in your career it was all about points being put on the board, the focus and energy on the fast break and scoring points. But then maybe you realize that you aren't doing great when the game slows down and defense? It's not what you know, it's what can you teach. Seek out the best in the business, but seek out what they teach and, if you can, teach that as well. Or change it so that your players can learn. Concepts, fundamentals, then rely on your athletes to execute.
Do you want your players to cut the court in half? Trap corners, keep ball out of the middle? What about offense? You will realize when you seek out those that you admire how much they are willing to share with you. Putting your entire philosophy and package together works for you - it will evolve, you will discover your principles.
It takes a while to discover what is going to be your philosophy. Seek out from all that you believe can and will help you.
Make adjustments.
Enjoy this process.
