Coming off of a 4A State Runner-Up Finish, the Lady Lancers of Salpointe Catholic are looking to bounce back and contend for the 2021-2022 4A State Championship. The Lady Lancers are going to rely on the leadership of 5-foot-8 senior combo-guard Kylee Callahan. Last season Callahan averaged 12.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.6 steals per/game.
Callahan is an impact player by changing the game with her defense, athleticism, passing and scoring abilities. She helped lead her team through a strong summer season campaign (record 28-3), and (3) summer tournament championships. She impressed at the Arizona Preps Summer Clash event in June by averaging a double-double in scoring and rebounds.
I am amazed at how she has no offers, as I believe she can play at the Division-1 level. She is the type of prospect who can fill up the stat sheet with scoring, rebounds, assists, and steals. Her best attributes include her basketball IQ, athleticism, quickness, anticipation and aggressiveness.
This young lady can go, on both ends of the floor, and thrives in transition. She has an excellent motor and defends 94 feet as well. She can also facilitate the offense by creating scoring opportunities for herself or her teammates.
After her strong showing this summer, I anticipate her stats to go up, since leading scorer Jaya Nelson graduated.
My prediction is Salpointe will meet Seton Catholic in a rematch of last season’s 4A Girls State Championship.
